RETHINKING CARDIAC PACING

RETHINKING CARDIAC PACINGRETHINKING CARDIAC PACING

A Different Anatomical Strategy for Cardiac Pacing

EPIPACE is a next-generation implantable pacemaker platform designed for placement on the external surface of the heart. Its leadless architecture is intended to avoid transvenous leads, chronic intracardiac hardware, and direct contact with the bloodstream.

HOW EPIPACE WORKS

Why EPIPACE Is Different

Conventional Transvenous Pacemakers

Current Intracardiac Leadless Pacemakers

Current Intracardiac Leadless Pacemakers

  • Generator pocket and transvenous leads
  • Hardware within veins and heart
  • Lead and replacement-related complications

Current Intracardiac Leadless Pacemakers

Current Intracardiac Leadless Pacemakers

Current Intracardiac Leadless Pacemakers

  • No conventional lead or pocket
  • Device remains inside the right ventricle
  • Direct blood and intracardiac contact

EPIPACE

Current Intracardiac Leadless Pacemakers

EPIPACE

  • Epicardial, leadless placement
  • Outside the bloodstream and chambers
  • Energy-harvesting and multi-site platform potential

Unlike conventional systems, EPIPACE is designed to deliver pacing from the external surface of the left ventricle

Core Innovation

Miniature Epicardial Device

Designed for direct attachment to the external surface of the heart.

Integrated Pacing Technology

The device incorporates sensing, control circuitry, and an electrode for monitoring and stimulating cardiac activity

Energy-Harvesting Architecture

The patented concept converts kinetic energy produced by cardiac movement into electrical energy to support pacemaker operation

Expandable Platform

The patent includes configurations with multiple wireless receivers designed to sense and stimulate selected cardiac locations

From Heart Motion to Pacing Pulse

Heart Motion

Natural cardiac contraction creates continuous mechanical movement

Energy Conversion

Mechanical energy is designed to be converted, conditioned, and made available to support device operation

Rhythm Monitoring

The sensing system monitors cardiac electrical activity and identifies when pacing support is required

Cardiac Pacing

The control system delivers a timed electrical impulse through the electrode screwed-in the heart wall from the external surface

EPIPACE is designed to combine energy generation, rhythm sensing, and pacing therapy within one miniature epicardial device.

From Single-Site Pacing to Coordinated Ventricular Activatio

The EPIPACE platform includes configurations with multiple wireless receivers positioned at selected locations on the ventricular surface. These receivers are designed to deliver stimulation in a programmed sequence rather than from a single pacing site.
Sequential activation from the ventricular apex toward the base is intended to support the heart’s natural torsional, or spiral, contraction pattern and promote more coordinated ventricular motion.

Important information

Multi-site stimulation, physiologic activation, and heart-failure applications require further engineering validation, preclinical testing, regulatory review, and clinical study.
